Distal What is Fingers Fracture?

  • Finger fractures are breaks or cracks in one or more of the small bones that make up the fingers. They commonly occur following falls, direct blows, sports injuries, accidents, or crushing injuries and can affect people of all ages.
  • The symptoms may include pain, swelling, bruising, tenderness, difficulty moving the finger, or an abnormal appearance if the bone has shifted out of position. Some fractures may also be associated with damage to the surrounding joints, tendons, nerves, or soft tissues.
  • With the right assessment and treatment, most finger fractures can heal successfully and regain normal function. Treatment may include immobilisation, splinting, or surgery depending on the type, location, and severity of the fracture, followed by appropriate rehabilitation.
